Festival of Chichester \u00a02025 <\/strong><\/h1>\n

Saturday, 14th June to Sunday, 20th July 2025<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Festival of Chichester is a month-long celebration of the arts running in June and July each year. It brings around 100 events to the city, from concerts to theatre, through to a whole range of talks, poetry and guided walks. St John’s Chapel hosts a number of events during the annual Festival.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Phantom of the Opera<\/em> , 1925\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

One of the most eminent horror films ever made and perhaps even the most famous silent horror movie from that time – 1920’s. Lon Chaney starred in over 150 films (most of them silent ones) but he’ll always be remembered best for his role as Erik, the Phantom.<\/p>\n

Even though the role was played by many respectable actors afterwards, Lon Chaney is – and remains – the one and only Phantom of the Opera.<\/p>\n

Deep down in the catacombs below the Paris Opera building the phantom reigns in forgotten dungeons and underground lakes. After all these years of living in the opera, he has fallen in love with the unsuccessful, singer Christine – played by Mary Philbin.<\/p>\n

A Concert for Ukraine..<\/strong>…<\/h2>\n

The Friends of St John’s Chapel working with local charity Sanctuary in Chichester <\/a><\/strong>
\nand the musicians of Ensemble Reza <\/a><\/strong> present a fund-raising concert in aid of the people of Ukraine.
\nThe concert will be free but there will be a collection which will go direct to the the Disasters Emergency Committee Humanitarian Appeal <\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

More than 4 million people have fled Ukraine since the conflict began.Leaving behind jobs, belongings and loved ones, they now face an increasingly uncertain future.<\/p>\n
