The Friends of St John\u2019s Chapel<\/strong> work in partnership with and support the work of The Churches Conservation Trust<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 a national charity that looks after over 340 of England’s most important historic churches no longer needed for regular worship.<\/p>\n

The Friends aim to help secure the future of this rare surviving example of a Georgian proprietary chapel by increasing public awareness of the chapel and its history and looking for opportunities to promote and extend its use to a wider public.<\/p>\n

The chapel attracts visitors from all over the world. Volunteer Friends endeavour to keep the chapel doors open 7 days a week throughout the year; check on the home page for opening times.<\/p>\n

Joining the Friends…\u00a0<\/strong>
\nBy joining The Friends of St John\u2019s Chapel <\/strong>you can help us to preserve and enhance this important building for the benefit of everyone; both today and in the future. We try to keep our Friends informed about events at the chapel via the Chapel website and occasional Newsletters. W<\/p>\n

Joining the Friends supports us financially but you might also be able to help us as a Friend volunteer at events or in other ways.<\/p>\n

Membership of The Friends of St John\u2019s Chapel<\/strong> is open to all. It costs just \u00a312 per annum. Subscriptions are renewable in January each year.<\/p>\n

It helps us if you are able to set up a Standing Order for your membership subscription, and as a registered charity, the Friends are able to claim Gift Aid on it – which increases its value to us by 25p in every \u00a3 at no extra cost to you. To do this you must be a UK taxpayer and be paying at least an amount of tax equal to the amount we can claim back from the taxman.

Hiring the Chapel…<\/strong>
\nIt is possible to hire the Chapel for concerts, lectures, exhibitions and private events: the income goes towards maintenance costs. St John’s has outstanding acoustics particularly for musical events.
